Sadly, zips are typically always getting stuck and breaking.
Unfortunately, if a zip on a jacket breaks this can mean that we are unable to do it up—defeating the purpose of having a jacket if it won’t close, letting out all of the heat. Or it can mean that we can’t zip up a pocket, leaving our belongings susceptible to falling out.
Fortunately, sometimes a zip can be repaired. Sometimes this is done by taking it apart and reattaching the existing pulley. Other times this involves taking it apart, removing the pulley, and installing a new one on the existing zip.
However, if the issue with your zip is not pulley related, it might be that the teeth of your zip are damaged.
In order to repair a jacket where the zip has damaged teeth, an entirely new zip would need to be installed.
If the jacket does require a new zip, our experts in Madeley will source a match to the zip that has been removed.
